The Early Childhood Education (ECE) department at CSA offers three pre-kindergarten programs:

  1. HEAD START (HS)
    • Federally Funded
    • For children who turn 3 years of age on or before September 30 of the application school year (and up to age 5)
    • Income at or below 100% of Federal Poverty Guidelines
    • Accepts a limited number of applicants over 100% of poverty

  2. EARLY HEAD START (EHS)
    • Federally Funded
    • For children between ages 0 to 3
    • Income at or below 100% of Federal Poverty Guidelines

  3. STATE PRE-KINDERGARTEN (PRE-K)
    • Nevada State Funded
    • For children age 4 
    • Income at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines

Family benefits included in each program:

  • No cost to family/participant
  • School readiness
  • Dental Care
  • Health Care
  • Assistance with special needs
  • Parent involvement (is a key part of the program)

A family may automatically be eligible when one of these is true:

  • Applying foster child
  • Apply child or someone living in household receives SSI for a disability
  • Applying family is homeless
  • Applying family is receiving TANF
  • Applying child has identified and documented special needs and/or disability

Applying options and requirements:

  • Print Application (English or Espanol), fill it out, then bring to any of our sites to apply:
  • Come to any of our sites to apply
  • Bring your child's birth certificate, current immunization record, social security card (optional), and family's proof of income (previous 12 months)
  • Proof of income is your current tax return or all of your current W-2s, check stubs with year-to-date information, employer written letters, social security statements, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) statements, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) statements, foster care verifications, child support and/or alimony letters/court orders, grants/scholarships, unemployment compensation, etc.
