CSA currently has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Controller in our Finance Department. This high level management position is responsible for the accounting and finance functions of CSA and its related entities along with reporting and monitoring activities within the various funding sources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Accounting Manager and assist in supervising Fiscal Office staff
  • Prepare and review monthly reporting and reimbursement requests to funding sources, federal FFRs and SF-425 and related reports, CACFP claims and other reports as required by funding sources
  • Participate in the preparation and administration of the Finance Department and agency-wide budgets, program refunding applications, along with budget recommendations
  • Attend, provide and present reports at monthly Policy Council meetings and provide other periodic updates
  • Provide financial statements and other details to auditors and other monitors as needed throughout the year
  • Initiate improvements and revisions to the accounting system and procedures
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the Finance Department
  • Perform a wide variety of professional accounting duties, including preparing year-end adjusting and closing entries and annual financial reports, and auditing subsidiary journals, registers and staff entries to ensure proper account coding
  • Assist in the management of the Finance Department functions including licensing, banking, approval of purchase orders, and overall agency security

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities You Should Possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Seven years of technical accounting experience and a thorough understanding of and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Knowledge in preparing financial statements and various statistical reports
  • Knowledge of federal cost principles and administrative requirements for non-profits
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, MIP or other batch General Ledger and Accounting Systems
  • Considerable accuracy and attention to details; strong multi-tasking and organization skills; must be analytical and have the ability to identify variances; ability to prepare a variety of financial reports; ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle priorities; ability to work collaboratively with all levels of agency and work effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment in performing accounting duties as well as a meticulous, thorough detailed approach to work
  • The application of broad knowledge of finance, accounting, and government funding principles
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and remain accountable for organizing daily and monthly workload in order to ensure timely issuance of financial information and reports
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding work-related material and make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately

POSITION INFORMATION
This position educates preschool children in activities to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in the Head Start Program.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or GED and six training hours in Early Childhood Education plus one year's work experience with preschool age children required. Bilingual preferred, but not required.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATES
Sheriff's Card, TB Test Results, CPR & First Aid, Infectious Disease, Valid Nevada Driver's License, and DMV Printout.

POSITION INFORMATION
This position supports management in coordinating activities for children's health and mental health needs, family needs, and other Head Start Service areas in the Head Start Program.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Associates of Arts degree from an accredited college or University with a major in Early Childhood Education, or a degree that includes six Early Childhood Education classes and one year of related experience in a pre-school teaching environment.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Ability to work effectively in a leadership role and as part of a team in support of the Head Start philosophy
  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, committees, regulatory agencies, or members of the general community
  • Effectively present information and interpret government guidelines
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Travel moderately to Program sites and training workshops as the job requires
