POSITION INFORMATION
This position assists the Education Manager in directing the activities of CSA's Head Start Education and Child Development Services Area. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Education Manager in annual review and updating of the Early Childhood Education Program plan designed to utilize Head Start Performance Standards
  • Assists Education Manager in ensuring thorough program monitoring activities and in working effectively with teachers to implement daily, weekly and monthly education plans
  • Review lesson plans for each classroom and provide written comments to each classroom staff team
  • Provide staff support in developing plans by assisting with compiling, aggregating, and analyzing data
  • Work effectively with teachers to implement daily, weekly, and monthly plans by specifically addressing the individual child's education program and parent consideration
  • Various other duties as they relate to directing the activities of CSA's Head Start Education and Child Development Services Area

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with a major in Early Childhood Education or related field with eight Early Childhood Education classes and two years of full-time teaching experience in a preschool environment.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATES
Sheriff's Card, TB Test Results, CPR & First Aid, Infectious Disease, Valid Nevada Driver's License, and DMV Printout.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

CHILD & FAMILY SPECIALIST

POSITION INFORMATION
This position helps engage families in the education of their children and assists them to become self-sufficient and stable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete Family Goal Plans and child goals for home and school with each classroom family
  • Provide social service emergency assistance referrals and adult education referrals to families while maintaining related database
  • Assist with daily individual and group activities using prepared lesson plans in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards to prepare children for the transition to kindergarten
  • Assist teachers and special education teachers assigned to Head Start inclusion sites on meeting goals of children on an IEP
  • Maintain case notes, records and documentation of family services as well as one on one work with students, family meetings, referrals, and any additional services as needed
  • Various other duties related to aiding staff and families

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Associate's Degree with a focus in Early Childhood Development, Child Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or related field.

Six training hours in Early Childhood Education and one year of related teaching experience in a pre-school environment or an equivalent combination of training and experience working with young children. 

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

POSITION INFORMATION
This position supports management in coordinating activities for children's health and mental health needs, family needs, and other Head Start Service areas in the Head Start Program.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a major in Early Childhood Education or Human Development and Family Studies, or related field with eight Early Childhood Education classes and 2 years full-time teaching experience in a pre-school environment.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Ability to work effectively in a leadership role and as part of a team in support of the Head Start philosophy
  • Respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, committees, regulatory agencies, or members of the general community
  • Effectively present information and interpret government guidelines
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Travel moderately to Program sites and training workshops as the job requires
